UGANDA MISSION date 15th to 20th April 2009

REVIVAL MEETINGS IN UGANDA what is a revived church? what do I mean by a revived c church? The word revived means to return to consciousness, or life, to recover life, vigor, or streangth, to become reanimated or reinvigorated, to become active operative, valid, or flourishing a gain. It is a church where we see dynamic ( power ) of the Holy Spirit released ( see 4:14, 5:17, Acts 1:8, 6:8, 10:38, Rom. 15: 19 , ICor. 2:4, Eph. 3:16) Where the Holy Spirit lives you will find lively, dynamic and powerful result. It is where people will say "man, I can not wait to get to the church. I love it. God is there. I don`t know what`s going to happen next. I am blown a way. This is an empowered church. It embosses " the season of revival" and experiencing God`s empowering presences as it creatively balances word and spirit structure and spontancity. Revied church is beeing built together to become a dwelling in church.God lives by His Spirit Eph. 22:22. It is saturated with God.
THE AGONY AND THE ACSTASY
Renewal is an adventure of agony and acstacy of losing and winning of conflict in a change requiring steady character. Three challenges face Revival churches. managing conflicts, motivating change and modelling character.
The Holy Spirit courses change while tensions mount. The initial effect is after conflict and sometimes divisions. More battle are fought over change than theology. Most of us don`t like changes but we like safe environment.
Most of us fall into one of four tendences in our personality types.
1. Radicals, 2.Progressives,3. Coservatives, and 4.Traditionalist.
CHARACTER OF RADICAL PEOPLE
Are the source of many good ideas and provide " leaving " in the dough mix. They tend to be impulse and at time unwise. They operate in an emotional climate . They are early starters with quick burnout. They will help motivate and empower change. The Radical push the envelop and look like rebels. They can threaten conservatives and traditionalists. They say, Let`s go for it.
PROGRESSIVE PEOPLE
Are turned into and anticipate the need for change. They are risk - takers who live on the edge but they are not hasty. They operate in operational climate. They quickly persive the benefits in good planning and well spearhead new directions. They don`t go by old programs and are the best communicators to the conversations. They provide spirit and stability in change . They say Let`s go for it but let`s slow down.
CONSERVATIVE PEOPLE
They see the value of the status of quo and do not have a felt need for change. Many of them join a church because it satisfies their needs. They will anger the progressives and radicals because they ask the strategic questions that those groups don`t expect from them. They operate in a rational climate and are not hasty. Financially they give most. Radical don`t have it and progressive don`t keep it. They say, well maybe let`s go, but why do we have to.
TRADITIONALIST PEOPLE
Are extremely resistant to change and have a tendency to be hostile angry and vocal about change. They will complain and argue although they sound rational, they operate in an emotional climate , progressive perceive them as enemies or obstacles. They do not support change and in the rare case they undergo changes. They say I don`t want to go!.
Can you see yourself generally in one of the above categories?.Do you see how you can be helpful or hinderance to God - inspired change which might course conflict in the church?. Churches fall in one of these four categories.
Radicals and progressives might lead revived churches but they need conservatives and the raditionalist to support them. Because fear and comfort form the root of resistance to change
LIVING BY SPIRIT Galatians 5: 25. Since we live by the spirit, lets us keep in step with the spirit. In my daily life, I have experience how one can live only by the spirit of God. I know this is not an easy job but it pays. At my back you can see the lake Victoria which is the larggest lake in Africa and second in the world, this is Entebbe beach in Uganda. There is also an international air port just one kilometre from where I am standing.I had a faith reaching there and now it has come true. How do we live by the spirit? To live by the spirit is unnerving yet exciting, full of tensions yet peace, with strange yet wonderful outcome. We are open with unbridle expectation for him to move, urge and guide , by obedient and risky faith fastened to the father a genda. The world did not set agenda for Jesus. People could not predict what he would do or say next because he had no plan but sought what the Father wanted. He did not operate from programs. He waited for God`s urging and Spirit guiding. As a chance we have done a lot. Planned great services, sponsored exciting conferences and rallies without much prayers of inquiring of the Lord. You need to come to a place in your life where you should lay down down at the alter of sacrifice through repentance and reflections.Beeing asking yourself where is the spirit leading, moving and directing me.On who is the Spirit abiding or anointing. You need to decrease or differ regarding your position. You need to feel demoted to junior, right where God`s wants you to the low road of brokeness, submission and servanhood. We live by spirit as we yield to Him as we submit our plans, our programs, and personal lives to the spirit in advance To live by the spirit also means like King Jehoshaphat of what he did by inquiring from the lord The Bible says that without faith it is impossible to please God. ( Heb. 11: 6.) God shows up move often when the doors of faith and expectance is open than the doors when closed. The heart of living by spirit is to walk in the annointing God`s gives us to walk in His presence and power ( Acts 10: 38 declares) An anointing is a supernatural enablements grace, manifested presence of the Holy Spirit operating upon or through individual or corporate group to pronounce the works of Jesus Christ. DID GOD CARE? HAS HE FORGETTEN US?

CHRISTIAN SUFFERING I have been wondering why do Christian suffer especially to our Country whereby there is no food, medicine, hunger, hiking prices of important commodities, poverty, people dying because of HIV/ AIDS in Africa and other parts of the world, breaking marriages, divorce, children not obeying their parents, people loving money more than God while others being selfish. Why do they experience trials and temptations. Trials come to create patience and maturity in our lives. The word trial here means those troubles that come upon Christians from outside, God allows them, trials to come in order to test or prove our faith. But there is also a promise of reward if we remain strong. In contrast, temptation comes from within us. They arise from man`s own sinful nature not from God. Suffering is normal part of the Christian life. Christ suffered and so with all Christians. But there is also great hope. If we suffer with Christ, we will also rule with Him. The Book of James, Hebrew, and I Peter gives us many explanation and instruction about suffering. The early Church knew much about suffering. Those saints did not always understand why they suffered. Did God care? Had He forgotten them? Hebrew, James and I Peter offer hope and encourage to all suffering Christians. Hebrew emphasized that Christ is greater than all who came before Him. Christians may suffer greatly, yet faith in Christ is the best path. James taught us to rejoice in trials, because they come for a purpose. He also told us real faith produces work, others know our faith only by what they see us do. Peter encouraged suffering believers, we have a living hope with us. God will one day raise us from the dead. Then He will give us a permanent inheritance that will never fade. Therefore let those who suffer be patient. God bless you my Friend. Pastor Mike. EVANGELISM IN THE SLUMS KIBERA

MEET PASTOR MIKE DOING EVANGELISM Kibera is one of the second largest slum in Africa with a total of 1.2 million people living there. All the forty two tribes and other tribes around the world dwells in this place. Most of the people living here are desperate children and youth. Due to lack of job opportunities have made their parents poor of which has resulted to the spread of HIV/Aids epidemic. Most of the youth are on drug addict for being idlers and women have engaged themselves in prostitution for them to earn a living but to those who are employed earn too little which can not sustain them. It is my appeal to the well wishers to pray for Kibera people for God to open up ways to assist this problem. Kibera has many religion and believes of which require one to teach sound dotrine. Pastor has lived in Kibera for more than twenty five years and doing evangelism. God called me to his people. I started evangelizing door to door and crusade still when I was young and I enjoy this work. Though it has its difficulties to the people we meet. Some don`t have bibles, this would force me to buy for them Bibles in Kiswahili. Kiswahili Bibles are very expensive and yet it is a language they can understand better. "Where would you go when you die?" In African customs it is very hard to ask this question. In some houses when you ask this question they may think you have a plan of praying for one them to die. You need to pray to God to give you wisdom to how you can ask the question of which is very important. Most of the people will tell you I will go to heave. May I ask you the second quetion. If you were to find youself before God and He were to ask you, What can make me allow you into heaven. Here is a place whioch will make you know whether the person you are witnessing to is saved or not. For many will tell you many stories of what they do at church, community, neighbours, helping the poor and so on. For we are save not by work but by the grace of God through faith and that not by youslf.. I have enjoyed doing this work before the lord Jesus comes. Would you like joining me in evangelism in Kibera. Please write to me if you have that call and ready to minister with me. God bless you. Pastor Mike.

RAFIKI CHILDREN`S HOME

THE VIEW OF RAFIKI CHILDREN`S HOME It is now two years since when Rafiki Children`s Home was started in the year 2007 . Most of these Children are from the Streets and some are orphans and also Vulnerable. The Home is situated in Olympic in Kibera Nairobi. The Home was started by by Pastor Mike and his wife Matroba with Sister Ann Jones from U.S. A. The boys have really enjoyed staying a home that cares for them in education, spiritual matters, physicall and emotionally. Washington Ochieng the boy you can see just sitting on the bed, was taken from the streets of Nairobi. The boy was so frustrated and had no hope of living. He saw life as meaningless. He never wanted to see even his own parents and even his brothers and sisters or go to school. Oching comes from a family of seven, his mother died when he was still young. His father managed to marry another wife who later mistreated him. The boy went to the street. I just got him on the street when I was doing door to door evangelism. The boy never wanted to come with me as he thought that I could have mistreated him just like his parents. "Oching, do you know I was just the way you are" I said to him. My Mother died when I was one and a half years. Praise God Ochieng has accepted to forgive his parents and also ready to go to school. I have stayed with him for two years. He is a saved boy and co operative and humble boy. Please you may donate or sponsor a child or send any kind of a gift to these precious Children of God. They need education, food, beds, sheets, blankets, shoes, and clothes and your prayers. Pastor Mike

RAFIKI CHILDREN`S HOME

THE END OF YEAR 2008 CHILDREN`S TOUR Rafiki Children`s Home will never forget the tour they had by the end of the year 2008. I could hear children recalling how joyful they were when they toured one of the historical garden in the republic of Kenya. I hope this will be so educative to them. It was a very good moment for the children who are orphans, and also from the streets being recognized in their lives. They had just closed their school for December holidays which could last for a month. Pastor Mike, Matroba, Lawrence and Milly who is the social worker had just made some arrangements of transport and lunch for the children. Children enjoyed so much in learning the historical event of Kenya especial how we got independent and the raising of the flag in Uhuru garden. They also had so many activities. They have promised to write a composing on how they enjoyed the December holiday 2008. Pastor Mike

RAFIKI CHILDREN`S HOME

BOYS FROM THE STREET TO A HOME Well done boys!!. These are boys from Joseph Kang`ethe Rescue Centre. It is now one year since Friends of Jesus Ministries visited the rescue centre for the boys. We managed to take three boys in the above picture. James Esau being one of them. In our home, boys really changed both morally and physically. We took them to one of the Government school, though it was hard for them to copy with the Education since they had been out from school for many years. The boys have improved a lot and they don`t think going back to the street a gain. We managed to take two of the boys to their home. We feel so happy as we see them living with their family. Rafiki Children`s Home appreciate the good co operation that they have with the parents and guardian or relatives of the children we have.We have been able to move to this extend because of their involvement, in prayers, and support . We would also appreciate the support we had from well wishers and through God`s guidance we can!!. Please continue praying for our home. Would you like to be part of this program? Join by sending whatever gift you have for these children. You may either sponsor one in education. Please write to us by email shown, God bless you. Pastor Mike

MIRACLE FROM GOD

We thank God for His mercies and love" This is a wonderful family of Felistas who had a growth in her womb. She had been in this situation for more than six years. Felistas comes from Migori District, Nyanza Province, the country Kenya in Mukuyu village. Many had deserted her, she had no hope at all, some said she was bewitched , but now you can see what God has done for her.She is so health, beautiful and joyful. Her treatment would have costed her the all of her plot in Mukuyu village. Thank God for the missionaries who came through Friends of Jesus Ministries. They were able to raise money for her surgery in Karen Hospital. Felistas has been blessed by God, she now has a baby girl by the name Jenea. This was one of the team leader who led the mission to Kenya and met Pastor Mike of Friends of Jesus Ministries. Felistas has seven children and her husband is called Zacharia who is jobless. It has been so had just to construct a simple house of ironsheet. They live in the thatched hut you can see, the house is leaking, it will be very hard for Jenea who is now two months 0ld to live or sleep in this hut." You never know what God has put in place" they keep on trusting God to provide as He did with operation of his wife. WHAT GOD HAS DONE TO FELISTAS. MIGORI MIRACLE!!

THE LOVE OF GOD WILL NEVER FORSAKE US Finally IT IS DONE. You could hear Felistas breathing deeply, tears of joy flowing on her cheeks. My God my God! how can I thank you? You have removed my distress, It is you , You have done it, God it is you, you have done it!!. God never failled Felistas a young women from Migori District Kenya. This women never slept just like other women do when they have conceived. Remembering her story narrated in our last web site about her miracle in our Youth Seminar Migori. Felistas had a growth in her stomach which had lasted for more than six years. Even though she was in that state, she had given birth to three kids. When we took her to Karen Hospital, Doctors said that she could not survived for the rest of her life. Felistas never slept. It was only by the grace of God that our sisters from U.S.A Jenae and her friends contributed for her surgery. It was recently the month of November 2008 when Felistas gave birth to a baby girl. We named her Jenae as we thought of her struggle with her friends to contribute towards her surgery and maternity cost. What God can do, no man can do. Brothers and sisters, God has called us to help the needy as we remember the ministry of our lord Jesus Christ. It is a high time that the world is experiencing in economic shake up. What do you do to your brother when he is in need. You may send your support to Friends of Jesus Ministries to cater for more suffering children from the streets, orphans, widows and vulnerable children. It may be of any kind.
